Fady Mahouly
The Lebanese International University - Beirut Branch announced that the fire alarms were activated this morning at 8:03, which necessitated the implementation of evacuation procedures in accordance with safety protocols and the competent authorities to be informed immediately.
She explained in a statement that the tests conducted by the university team, the responsible company, and civil defense showed that there was no fire, but rather an automatic activation of the system that led to the spread of gases inside the building.
She indicated that she is "currently working to evaluate the situation with experts to determine the reasons that led to the activation of the alarm, and to inspect all of its safety systems."
The university confirmed that no infections were recorded among students, educational staff, employees, or visitors, noting that work continues as usual, with the exams scheduled for today in the Beirut branch postponed to a later date, in order to allow the technical team an opportunity to evaluate the situation and benefit from this experience.
